Under Fire, Above Fear

This animation was born not just from an idea, but from a deep emotional need. As a Ukrainian animation studio, we live the war not as distant news, but as a reality that defines our everyday lives. That’s why this piece became more than a project – it grew into a form of artistic resistance, a quiet roar expressed through visuals, metaphors, and motion. It is not a documentary, but a poetic reflection. Not a record of facts, but a story told in emotions.

Length: 1:05 min

Challenge

From the very beginning, we faced a fundamental question: How do you show the truth of war without turning to weapons or direct violence? The war is not only fought with soldiers and machines – it’s also an inner fight against despair, silence, and the loss of spirit. Our challenge was to capture both the visible chaos and the invisible resilience. We needed a way to express fear, anger, and destruction while preserving the essence of hope and strength that refuses to disappear.

Solution

Our answer was to build the story through symbolism and metaphor. Every frame carries intentional meaning. Colors as emotions: Blue and gold represent the Ukrainian flag – the sky, the fields, the pride, and the pain. Reds, yellows, and oranges capture the chaos of explosions and loss, but also the courage and fiery energy of resistance. Shadows and greys symbolize oppression, always countered by the return of light. Abstract storytelling: Instead of showing literal violence, we portrayed the feelings of living through war. The animation transforms destruction into imagery that is both poetic and powerful – one that speaks to the heart more than the eye.

The result is a visual tribute to resilience, unity, and the unbreakable fight for freedom. This project is more than animation – it’s our emotional statement, crafted with care and intention. Through metaphor, color, and motion, we created a piece that reflects Ukraine’s struggle, while carrying a universal message of hope. It stands as proof that even in the darkest moments, art can resist, light can return, and hope will always burn.

Every contribution matters. Every coin can save lives.
