The Client approached us with a clear but challenging request: create an engaging, easy-to-understand video about VPNs for a broad audience. Their target groups ranged from tech-savvy gamers to working professionals and older individuals unfamiliar with the technology. Our mission was to simplify the abstract concept of a VPN and illustrate its importance in a way that resonates with diverse viewers, regardless of their technical background.
To break down the complexities of VPN technology, we developed a relatable metaphor: surfing the sea as a representation of being online. Using this analogy, we contrasted the dark, foreboding visuals of unprotected internet use with the vibrant, secure imagery of using a VPN. This approach made the differences between freedom and security tangible and memorable. By incorporating bright colors and positive sounds to represent VPN protection, alongside mysterious tones for unsecured browsing, we visually simplified the abstract idea without overwhelming the audience with technical details.
